Udupi: Preparatory meeting held for mega Billava mass conference 2019

Udupi, Jan 7: Billava community has decided to hold mega Billava mass conference 2019 under the leadership of Udupi district Billava Yuva Vedike on February 3. The conference will be held with the active participation of Billava leader B N Shankar Poojary, in the presence of chief minister of Karnataka at Gandhi Maidan, Brahmavar near here. A preparatory meeting in this connection was held at Ambalpady Billava Seva Sangha. Conference convener Achyuth Ameen Kalmady gave details of the proposed conference.

Nearly 50,000 people are expected to take part in the conference. The conference will urge inclusion of Billava community from category two to category one, implementation of Narayana Guru project, distribution of Pahani Patra, monthly honorarium to the priests of Garadi and all-round development of Billava community.



There are more than 100 Billava organizations in the district. Out of them, 85 organizations have confirmed their participation. Billava women’s organizations and sub community groups will also take part.

Udupi district in-charge minister Dr Jayamala, MP Shobha Karandlaje, Udupi MLA K Raghupati Bhat, Billava conference president Praveen M Poojary, political and social leaders will also be present. It is decided to hold preliminary meetings in connection with the conference in all parts of the district. 

Chief secretary of the conference, A Shivakumar Ambalpady, Sharath Kalyanpur, zonal convener Pradeep Sanil Palli, Prashanth Brahmavar, honorary treasurer Mahesh Kumar, Udupi taluk panchayat vice-president Rajendra Pandubettu, association treasurer Dayananda A, women’s unit president Vijaya G Bangera, association managing committee and women’s unit office bearers, committee members, association members and community members were present.
