Mangaluru: Officials seize foreign currency notes worth Rs 3.7 lac from passenger

Mangaluru, Jan 9: The officials at the airport here found that Abdul Mansoor from Kozhikode, Kerala, was in possession of foreign currency notes worth Rs 3.7 lac. Mansoor was to fly from here to Dubai by a flight on Monday night. He stands arrested.

Official on duty, Rakesh Kumar, developed suspicion about Mansoor, who was taking 11 pm flight from here on Monday, during the pat down. During detailed checking, he found that Mansoor was carrying UAE dirhams and Saudi rials totlally worth Rs 3.7 lac which had been kept in polythene bag and being transported inside his inner-wear.

As it is illegal to carry foreign currency notes beyond certain limits, the accused was taken into custody and handed over to customs officials, a release from the airport said.
