Udupi, Jan 9: “The ambitious Ayushman Bharath project of Prime Minister Modi has already been released with the cooperation of the state government,” stated Udupi district BJP in a press communication.

District BJP spokesperson Katpadi Shanker Poojary who gave details of the project said that nearly ten crore families in India will benefit from it. “Every family will receive free medical treatment of 1354 types costing between Rs 1.5 lac and five lac,” he said

“Both BPL and APL card holding families are eligible. Nearly 1.15 crore BPL families and 19 lac APL families will be covered in the plan. BPL families will receive Rs five lac each and APL families will receive 1.5 lac medical expenses. 385 government and 531 private hospitals are identified for the purpose. Necessary instructions are sent to those hospitals,” he said.

“There is a provision for going to private hospitals if suitable treatment is not available at government hospitals. Emergency treatment for heart attack and neuro surgery can be availed at private hospitals. Wide publicity is required for the pro people programme. Local administrations, district health department and primary health centers should help people by providing necessary information,” said Shanker Poojary.
