Kundapur, Jan 9: “India is developing because of labour class. Maintaining the welfare of workers should be the priority of the government, but the attitude of Narendra Modi led government and its anti worker and anti farmer policies are shocking. The achievement of the government is changing the colour of currency notes and troubling poor people through GST,” said political leader Vikas Hegde.

He was speaking at a meeting of protests held under the leadership of ten labour organizations at Kundapur Shastri circle for implementation of their twelve demands.

“It was still not possible to capture capitalists such as Vijay Mallya, Lalith Modi and Neerav Modi who fled the country after borrowing a huge amount of money. The central government who could not bring back billionaires hiding abroad after looting the country is following anti worker policies. The day when the workers give proper answer to the government is not far,” he said.

Labour leader H Narasimha said that the government is not prepared to set aside money for the progress of workers who are the backbone of the country. “It is busy protecting capitalists. It is unfortunate that it is preparing to merge Vijaya Bank which has 87 years history."

Another labour leader Suresh Kallagara said that the government at the centre has not invited for a discussion at least for courtesy the workers who had protested for their demands four months ago. “Therefore, we have protested for the implementation of 12 demands. We want to awaken the central government. The government which wants to amend 44 labour acts is not interested in the worker’s welfare,” he said.

Political leaders Malyadi Shivarama Shetty, JCTU president Laxman Shetty, Intec president Chandra Ameen, CITU’s Mahabala Vaderahobli, Raju Devadiga, Sridhar Sherugar, Chandrashekar Kharvi, Devaki Sannayya, Vinod Crasta, Raju Devadiga and others were present.

A mass protest rally was taken in Kundapur before the protests.
