Mysuru: Husband dies after wife sets him on fire

Mysuru, Jan 9: A man succumbed to his injuries after his wife poured petrol and set him on fire.

The incident has happened in Udayagiri, Mysuru. Udayagiri police had arrested Mumtaz, the wife of Mahajar Pasha alleging that she had set fire to him. However, two children of the couple have denied that their mother committed the crime.

Fire had spread when their father played with petrol in drunken stupor and lighted a cigarette. The father who was in the influence of alcohol told lies, say the children.

Mumtaz and Mahajar Pasha had married 23 years ago. The couple has six children. Mahajar Pasha was working as auto driver. The husband and wife used to quarrel often over extra marital affairs of the husband. Mumtaz who was disgusted because of it, has poured petrol on him and set fire, states the police case.

The mother was remanded to judicial custody. The children now say that their mother is innocent.
