Udupi, Jan 9: “We should defeat the plans of prime minister to sell our country to foreign capitalists. Fight against centre’s finance and industrial policies in inevitable,” said joint committee district convener of labour organisations K Shankar. He was speaking in protests held in front of Canara Bank here on the second day of Bharath Band.

“If Prime Minister Modi continues as the prime minister Canara Bank also will lose its identity,” said CITU district vice president Balakrishna Shetty.

“There is a conspiracy of merger of profit making Vijaya Bank with loss making Dena Bank,” he said.



“The government at the center had assured before elections of creating two crore jobs. But those are restricted to 1,30,000 now. It only inspires them to prepare and sell pakodas,” he said.

Joint committee district convener of labour organizations, K Shankar said that the protests in which 18 crore people supported and participated has become a success. The procession of workers progressed via Masjid road, post office, K M Road, Diana circle, court road and concluded in Canara bank premises.

AIIEA’s Prabhaker Kunder, ITU district president Vishwanath Rai, AITUC’s K V Bhat, Ganesh Kotian, Ram Mohan, JCTU convener Adamaru Sripathi Acharya, CBEFI’s Ravindra were present.
