Mangaluru: Dr B M Hegde to preside over DK Kannada Sahitya Sammelan

Mangaluru, Jan 10: Well-known figure in the field of medicine and medical research, Dr B M Hegde, has been chosen to preside over the 23rd annual Dakshina Kannada (DK) district Kannada Sahitya Sammelan. The literary conference is being held from January 29 to 31 at Kudmul Ranga Rao town hall here.

Dr Hegde happens to be a retired vice chancellor of Mahe University Manipal. He has served in several universities in the capacity of visiting professor. He has enriched the field of medical literature because of his rich experience, stress on simplification of treatment methods and thousands of articles laying stress on happiness. Articles on medical treatment and health penned by him have been held in high esteem and translated into English and other languages. He has also been a part of the international medical research.

Dr Hegde's speeches on medical knowledge, food habits and enrichment of life values have been spread through electronic media, internet etc and have become highly popular. He has been a crusader against misuse of medical terms to fleece gullible patients. He has won several national and international awards and has been conferred with Padma Bhushan recognition by the government of India.
