Mangalore: Basti Vaman Shenoy Forgoes Konkani Academy Post to Give Room for Youth

Mangalore, Feb 13:
  In an announcement made recently through the media, the government had appointed Basti Vaman Shenoy as a member of the state Konkani Academy. Shenoy, who has worked as the Academy president for two terms earlier, has opted to forgo the membership offered to him, to make room for young Konkani activists to take over the post.
 
In his resignation letter, Shenoy said he was resigning for the purpose of allowing the youngsters a chance to work for the Academy. Basava Karvi, Udupi, Radhakrishna Bhakta, Puttur, Kasargod Chinna, Pandurang Nayak, Dr Vishnu Nayak, Uttara Kannada, Venkatesh Baliga, Dakshina Kannada, Basti Vaman Shenoy, Dakshina Kannada, Dr Vasant Kumar Perla, Udupi, Dr Vasant Bandekar, Sadashiv Gowda and Fr Dennis D'Sa, Dakshina Kannada, were the people chosen as the Academy members by the state government.
