Mangalore: Name City Circle after Shivaji- Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti

Daijiworld Media Network-Mangalore (SN/SP)

Mangalore, Feb 21: The political leaders have always neglected to respect the nationalist leaders who fought for the country's independence, Hence the circle being newly-built opposite Mangalore University college must be named as 'Chatrapati Shivaji Circle', demanded Vinod Kamat, an office-bearer of Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti, submitting a memorandum in this connection to mayor Ganesh Hosabettu at Mangalore City Corporation premises on Thursday February 19.

A memorandum will also be submitted with regard to celebrating ‘Shivaji Jayanti', which is least remembered by the people. The renaming of circle will be an honour to the historical hero who rightly and legitimately deserves it   for his precious contribution to the country's sovereignty, he said.

The mayor assured him to consider the request of the people and do the needful in the matter.

Nagarika Hitarakshana Vedike, Sri Ram Sene, Hindu Yuva Sena, Hindu Shakti, Yuva Shakti, Kalikamba Seva Samiti, Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti and Gowd Saraswat Brahmin Mahila Vrinda have supported this demand.

Kumar Malemar, district convener of Sri Ram Sene, Hanumanth Kamat, president, Nagarika Hitarakhana Vedike, Pratima Prabhu, Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti and Shobha Kamat, president, GSB Mahila Vrinda, were present on the occasion.

Opposite to Mangalore University College and people want to get political mileage? Uneducated people are not even sparing the University!?( I consider education and qualification are two different things) Abul Kalam is a scientist and respected by all in India. As Charles said Why not TMA Pai? No mileage eh?

I only hope there will not be one more riot, in Mangalore, on naming a circle. Guy's please do some social work, rather than wasting your time on silly issues like this. By the way i am shocked to see so many sena's and vedike's in the name of Hindu religion. If you have a true Hindu spirit, you guys should represent thru a single organisation. This itself shows that it is nothing but few individuals who trying to achieve their selfish and ploitical goals in the name of Religion, they are not united.!

Frinds we dont want great leaders to be named so lightly i would suggested that the Bajpe airport be re-christened as Rani Abbakka international airport as a tribute to the great queen who raised the armed struggle against the Portuguese in the coastal belt or The government can think of having bravery awards in her name. A GYM AND FITNESS CENTRE can be named after Koti Chennayya Vyayama Shaale or Koti Chennayya body building federation. But can we change is upto BJP Goverment as we have seen the changes made by Shiv -Sena in Maharastra ( Airport Railway Station) Jai Hind

Dear MR. Raj. Just visit any fort built by Tippu Sulthan, You will not find any mosque there but you will find only hanuman temple. Is this because he was a terrorist. Just have some basic knowledge of mysore and it's ruler prior to labeling anyone. You labelled him as a terrorist becasue he was a muslim. no need to beat around the bush..

Shivaji already has many things named after him in Maharashtra including the Mumbai International Airport. It would be an insult to the great Shivaji to name such a silly circle after him. Why are you not suggesting L.K. Advani or Yeddyurappa or even Muthalik?. Are you guys ashamed of your own leaders.

why not Pramod Mutalik Name ? Why not Bajrangis name ? Why you want to import from Maharashtra who really neglected Kannadiga's in every field, you dont' have any hero in your own backyard. ? These guys/girls have no business these days. What is there in name. Do some good work to really needy people instead of wasting your time in front of the mayor's office.
