Sir George Fernandes Memorial Award presented to Padma Bhushana Dr B M Hegde

Mumbai, Jun 5: Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (Regd), a NGO founded under the leadership of Thonse Jayakrishna A Shetty in the year 2000 for the development and pollution free of Costal Karnataka districts, Udupi, Mangalore and Kasargod. This organization is presenting this award in the name of prominent personality, former central government minister, well known union leader and the power behind Konkan Railway, on the birth day of George Fernandes who hails from coastal Karnataka.

This year the award is presented to a well known personality in international level in the field of medical, health care, literature, well known speaker Padma Bhushana Dr B M Hegde for his outstanding contribution in the field of Medicine and Healthcare since last 50 years, on the 89th birth anniversary of George Fernandes on 3rd June, 2019 at Buntara Bhavana Annex Hall, Kurla East, Mumbai.



The programme was presided over by the President of the Samiti Thonse Jayakrishna A Shetty, Deepak Kesarkar, minister of State for Finance, Home and Planning, Maharashtra was the chief guest and Kota Srinivas Poojary, opposition leader of Karnataka Legislative Council was the guest of honour.

In their speak the guests appreciated the president Thonse Jayakrishna A Shetty and all the members of Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti for the right choice of preseting this award to the right person in the presence of various community representative of the costal Karnataka residing in Mumbai.

After receiving the award Padma Bhushana Dr B M Hegde briefed about the achievement of George Fernandes and said he is an inspiration to others. All the dignitaries including Thonse Jayakrishna A Shetty explained about naming after Mangalore International Airport or Mangalore Railway Station in the memory of the great leader Late Gerorge Fernandes.

General secretary of JSKPPS Hiriyadka Mohandas invited the guests to the dias, CA I R Shetty welcomed the guests, N D Kotian briefed about the activities of the Samiti, Anthony Sequeira introduced the chief Guest, PD Shetty, KL Bangera and Surendra Salian felicitated the chief guest, Dayasagar Chowta introduced the guest of honour, Chandrashekar Belchada, GT Acharya and Ramchandra Ganiga felicitated the guest of honour, Dr Surendrakumar Hegde introduced Dr B M Hegde, Ravi S Devadiga, T Sanjeega Poojari and Harry Sequeira introduced MD Shetty, advocate Prakash Shetty and Vishwanath Mada.

    I join scores of people in saying kudos to Padma Bhushan Dr. B.M. Hegde on his being conferred Sir George Fernandes Memorial Award. Dr. Hegde has been the recipient t of many wards in the past and this another laurel to his credit.

    Surprised to note that George was KNIGHTED. I never knew that George was conferred Knighthood by the Queen of England !
