Mumbai: Former BJP youth leader arrested for harassing women on Facebook

Mumbai, Jun 6: Ex-BJP youth wing leader Roger Dias (35), who was absconding since a case was registered for harassing women on social media and for molesting a woman, was arrested on Tuesday from Andheri.

In last June, when he was the BJP Yuva Morcha vice-president of Vasai, a case of molestation was filed against him at Vasai police station for allegedly molesting and stalking a 32-year-old woman. After he was found guilty, BJP removed him from the party.

As per police records, Dias targeted married women from the Vasai-Virar belt whose husbands worked abroad. On Facebook he chatted and flirted with the targeted women and later blackmailed them.

In May 2019, during the time of his absconding he sent a request to a woman from Vasai. Earlier in 2018 she received a 'friends request' from him but she ignored it. This time she decided to respond as she had read about police cases against him. However, she was shocked to realize that she was being stalked by him and that he pointed her daily routine and threatened her. She then filed a complaint with Vasai Police. The police asked her to play along while they tracked him down. He was arrested on Tuesday from Andheri.

Roger was a habitual offender and a molestation case was filed against him in 2013 at Valiv police station in Vasai. He was then a Congress party youth leader.
