Mangalore: Children’s Drawing Contest ‘Chiguru Kala Prasasthi’ on May 9

Mangalore, May 6: The Sri Chakrapani School of Art in association with Karnataka Lalitakala Academy, Bangalore, will organize ‘Chiguru Kala Prasasthi 2009’, a state-level children’s drawing competition as part of its sixth annual programme at Amritha Vidyalayam Boloor here on Saturday May 9.  

Addressing media persons at the Press Club here on Tuesday May 5, Sathyanarayana Batrakodi, secretary, Sri Chakrapani School of Art, said, “A total of 1,000 students in three categories—primary, higher primary, and high school—participated in the preliminary round held at the district level. As many as 40 students have been selected for the final round of the state-level competition”.  

He added that Veena Maruvala , proprietor, Vinyas Publishers, will inaugurate the competition. 

Nine equal cash rewards and 31 merit certificates will be presented to the students in the final round. 

“‘Saadhana’ award and ‘Santhrupti’ award will be presented to drawing teachers with remarkable achievements in the field and to institutions, respectively, on the occasion”, he added.  

Brahmacharini Mangalamrutha Chithanya, Jaya C Suvarna, Dr K Narendra Kamat, and Harsha will be the chief guests at the award presentation ceremony.  

Suresh K Pandavarakallu, Suresh Rao, Tharanath Kairangal, and Sundar Thodar were present.
