Udupi, May 21: Lokayukta deputy superintendent of police Dr Prabhudev Mane informed that second grade surveyor of Kundapur taluk survey department, Tippesh R Naik, was nabbed by the Lokayukta personnel while accepting bribe on Wednesday May 20.

A person named Devadas Bhandarkar from near Shankarnarayana in Kundapur taluk had filed an application for the measurement of his land, by paying the requisite fee at the Kundapur survey office. Although Bhandarkar approached Tippesh several times, he reportedly did not heed to his requests to attend to his work. Later, he allegedly demanded for payment of a bribe of Rs 1,000 for attending to the work. Bhandarkar accepted.

After the Udupi Lokayukta police station received a complaint about this on Wednesday, inspector Belliappa registered a case. He laid a trap and caught Tippesh Naik red-handed along with the money he had received illegally. After questioning him, Tippesh was produced in a court in Kundapur.
