Bantwal, Jun 2: On the night of Monday June 1, two youths were assaulted with lethal weapons at Nettarakere village near Bantwal. The injured have been identified as Vishwanath and Suresh, both of whom are the residents of Mumudelu village adjacent to Nettarakere.

It is learnt, the assault took place in a deserted place between Nettarakere and Kumudelu villages. The youths were returning after taking part in a party organized in a hall in Farangipet, when the assaulters who came in two bikes, launched an assault on them with sharp weapons. It is suspected, that the miscreants were lying in wait for launching the assault in the deserted place. The number of assaulters is not yet known.

A few days back, heated exchange of words over giving credit to politicians for the water facility in the village, had given rise to friction, resulting in injuries to four persons. It is suspected, that the present incident was an aftermath of the previous incident.
