Sullia: Hotelier who threw waste into river penalized

Sullia, Aug 28: After getting information that waste products from a hotel was being thrown into River Payasvini at Kantamangala here, the local police conducted a raid. The persons who were disposing of waste into the river were taken into custody and produced before the tahsildar here. The tahsildar imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on them.

Hotel and poultry waste was being disposed off by the side of River Payasvini at Kantamangala regularly. On August 26, some persons arrived in a vehicle and began to throw garbage into the river. As soon as the police were informed, a team led by sub-inspector Harish, reached the spot and took the people engaged in the senseless act into custody.

The police also registered a case and issued warning to the concerned after calling them to the police station. Further questioning revealed that people from Royal Hotel here were involved with this act.
