Udupi, Aug 31: A day-long state level seminar on Wildlife Journalism and Forest Preservation with renowned wildlife photographers and filmmaker Kripar Senani, was held at Nutana Ravinda Mantapa at MGM College here on Friday, August 30.
Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha inaugurated the programme.
He said, “Today we are in a position of seeing forestry only in paintings. If we do not protect forest, it will become difficult to survive in future. Humans are the reason for drought and natural calamities.”
Speaking on Journalism he said that a reporter should be authentic. “They should have social concern and commitment towards society while making news reports. Need to focus on maintaining social stability,” he said.
Dr M G Vijay, principal of MGM College, presided over the programme. Followed by the formal stage function, an interaction session was held between students and resource person Kripakar Senani.
An interaction session was held about their experiences in life and profession.
Clifford Lobo, RFO Udupi, A A Gopal, RFO Shankarnarayan, and Arun Kumar, project director, Nirmithi Kendra were present.
Manjunath Kamath, lecturer in Journalism department welcomed the gathering, Gowtham rendered the vote of thanks. Nikesh compered the programme.
