Mangalore: NSUI Leader Alleges Police Torture, Illegal Detention
Daijiworld Media Network—Mangalore (RS/CN)

Mangalore, Jul 8: Tejaswiraj, president, district committee, National Students Union of India (NSUI), on Tuesday July 7 alleged that the police tortured him brutally before framing him in a fake credit card case.

Undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city for the fifth day, Tejaswiraj claimed that the police kept him under illegal detention in a house for a day.

He was admitted to a private hospital in the city after he was granted bail by a court on Friday July 3.

Tejaswiraj claimed that after the police in Mangalore rural station took him to the house in a remote area, they beat him up in a brutal manner and taunted him about being a member of the NSUI.

The student leader is under treatment for internal injuries as well as blood clots on his legs and feet. He alleged that these wounds were caused by the police with ‘lathis’ and steel rods.

Tejaswiraj was produced in court on Tuesday June 31 alongwith three others in the same case registered by the Pandeswar police.

The case was handled by the superintendent of police’s special squad. The case is in the limelight because of the high profile people involved in it.
U T Khader, MLA, demanded strict action against the police for their inhuman behaviour.

But the police in Mangalore rural police station denied the charges and the superintendent of police Dr A S Rao said that he proceeded on receiving the complaint.

We all know what a crook Teju is, his intentions are purely personal and not for student welfare.. Not sure why congress wants to associate themselves with him.. I dont think congress should have the likes of Teju standing next to thier Young brigadier, Rahul..

If he is proven guilty then send him to jail. But Police torture is not a punishment prescribed by the Law and constitution.Any suspected criminal needs to be dealt in a legalway .... Just like the way Cops in developed western nations do not harass or torture a ''suspected'' criminal. Unfortunately the self styled  police believe that they have the right to torture anyone who oppose .

Shame on the police depatment.Firing is not a solution that too for a small cricket ball issue. Police should see that alleged policeman get stringent punishment ,so that no other policeman in the future should repeat this.

@ Jenifer, he is not just a common man. high profiles use him to get their work done. he has committed crime and police have taken the full advantage of it.. well done. Amazing fact is no student union has come forward to support him.. this shows his importance... it's nothing but a political drama.

Jenifer, Police are not blind or deaf, Before arresting a leader they have to think twice. After getting videos also if they dont arrest such criminals, No use from police dept. He may be a good person to few people who got help from him being a district NSUI president. Most comments are against him. after all these comments are not the proof for not indulging in such activities.

You are wrong Jennifer. Whole Mangalore knows what a crook he is. Dont blame the police. Let them allow to fulfill their duties. This is a common tactic used by politicians and human rights activists to misguide the publics and bring pressure on the police...

Yes Ismail is absouletly rite, police have the evidences and proofs that all the 4 arrested are the criminals, there is nothing much to speak about it. police have the rights to beat up a criminal if he is not accepting his crime. same thing might have happened here also...

As reported previously, the arrests were made based on CCTV recordings of who enters/leaves the shop. Going through readers replies it appears he is a good person. The police should have been more accurate in their case study than torturing a wrong man.
