Mangalore, Jul 8
: As part of statewide raids, the Lokayukta police began their investigation into the assets of A D Nagaraj, police sub-inspector for railway department, Bangalore on Wednesday July 8. Nagaraj earlier had served as sub-inspector in Kavoor police station and also District Crime and Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) in the city.

The Lokayukta team led by deputy superintendent of police Sadananda Varnekar and inspector Udaya Nayak began its investigation by an enquiry in a house, Mahalingeshwara Kripa - Pareekshit near Gandhinagar, Kavoor owned by PSI Nagaraj. Meanwhile another team is carrying on its investigations in Puttur where Nagaraj jointly owns a property with one of his friends.

The department began its investigation following complaints that he has amassed wealth disproportionate to his earnings. The basic information gathered puts the value of his assets to about Rs 1 crore. But only final investigation will help in determining actual value of his assets.

The investigation began at around 6.30 in the morning all over the state. Three more officials from various other departments are under the radar of the Lokayukta. The final details of the investigations will be made public only in the evening by Lokayukta Justice N Santhosh Hegde.

Kudos to the Lokayukta team. They are doing an excellant job no doubt. But the need of the hour is to complete the departmental inquiries against officers of doubtful integrity as soon as possible. Recently, CBI director Ashwani Kumar blamed the "weak" criminal justice system for encouraging corrupt practices. Further, the CBI Director stated, Corruption and DA cases should invariably be clubbed togather and all assets beyond known sources of income should be confiscated whether the public servant gets acquitted or not. In this way he will not be able to enjoy the benefits of illgotten wealth. This is the only way to deter the opportunistic majority of the public servants. Thanks & all the best to Lokayukta team.

Brave Lokayukta and his team of officers are doing a great job of nabbing the corrupt public servants and exposing the dangerous disease that needs to be rooted out. The corrupt officers must be given exemplary punishment so that other public servants will stop selling their honour and bring discredit to the administration.

People should question the elected representatives and the head of the government as to why they are not empowering the Lokayukta to prosecute the accused officials possessing wealth disproprtionate to their known income. Unless every right thinking citizen raises his voice and condemns CORRUPTION and the CORRUPT PERSONS, the evil will continue. Honest and upright officers should be respected and supported. The hands of Lokayukta must be strengthened if the government wants CREDIBILITY.

Police in India have been in the news for all the wrong reasons for some time now. However, I hope Lokayukta finds courage to catch the sharks also not just the sardines.

Vinayak, Lokayutka can only catch corrupt, but can not prosecute or punish them. He can catch corrupt without Govt permission, but he can prosecute only with Govt permission. Lokayukta has done several representation to increase his powers to prosecute, but the permission remains denied. Technically, there is no meaning for all these raids, except that once in a while they come in the news print. If you wonder what happens next - here is what generally happens if you follow individual cases 1. The person if serving is transferred to another location with a plum posting 2. Departmental Enquiry carried out to buy time. Remember, lokayukta always has irrefutable evidence still it is of no use. 3. Frozen assets are opened with special permission.

Who made them currupt! We ourselves should be blamed for this. To get our work done faster and easier, we bribe officials. It should be stopped. Otherwise, this curreption will not be stopped. As Sudhakar mentioned from Peon to Senior Officers, Politicians, all are invovled. Even the Lokayuktha''s hands are tied up. Wake up India wake up.

Who is not corrupt in Indian Administration? From Watchman to Peon, Office Boy to Senior Officers, Politicians, Any Ministry you name it. No Governance, No visibility in the process. What Lokayukta can do? Some Government servants are making property in everyone''s name in their family to show their obedience to the Nation. In recent election Trillions of Rupees drained... from where those fund comes?? it is the hard earned money of all Indian Citizens. Still I love my India... Jai ho....

Well done Lokayukta Team! Keep up the good job and do raid politician places too. You need to inspire the younger generation on anti-corruption by diminishing such activities. All the best wishes.

One has to dole out few thousands to ''electrical contractor'' to get MESCOM connection. Enquire about this at MESCOM offices, across the district, they give a pleasant smile. Some raids should be there in the MESCOM staff. Revenue office-registar is one more open secret.

Lokayukta is doing an excellant job no doubt. Hats off to Justice S. Hegde n his able team. But Justice Hegde should also be given powers to take action or punish the culprits. We have heard a lot of this in the past in M''lore and B''lore and every where. Raids, un earthing crores of rupees, properties worth few crores etc, what happens to these culprit officials, who are caught by Lokayukta? I have not heard of any severe actions taken against them by Govt authorities or anybody else. So day robbery of rich n poor by officials might still continue, if no action is being taken against guilty...!!
