Udupi, Jul 16:
Educational institutions can excel with the efforts of students, support of parents and dedicated teachers. Meanwhile, for an educational institution in rural area to excel collective efforts of every class in the society is essential, said deanery vicar Fr Baptist Menezes.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the silver jubilee celebrations of Don Bosco English Medium School, Shirva at Our Lady of Health parish hall near here on Tuesday July 14 evening. It’s indeed a challenge to manage an educational institution in the rural area. Despite modern-day competitions, Don Bosco English Medium School has made new strides in imparting education since the past two and a half decades, he added.

Don Bosco English Medium School correspondent and Shirva Our Lady of Health parish priest Fr Richard Coelho said that several programmes have been planned to celebrate the silver jubilee year meaningfully.

Dr Nagaraj Kamath of Shirva Janani Dental Clinic was the chief guest on the occasion. Shirva parish council vice-president Norbert Machado, school parent-teachers’ association vice-president Arvin D’Souza and student leader Maithili were present.

School head teacher Irene Rodrigues welcomed the gathering and Norbert Machado proposed the vote of thanks. Teacher Cynthia Pereira compered the programme.
