Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jul 16: For the second day in succession, landslides created problems for the movement of the night train to Bangalore. The onward journey of the Bangalore-bound train from the city was blocked because of this problem, on the night of Wednesday July 15.

The information that mud and rocks had got deposited on the railway tracks between Subrahmanya and Sakleshpur on Wednesday night due to landslide, reached Subrahmanya station just before the train coming from the city reached Subrahmanya. The train was stopped there and later sent back to the city.

Thousands of passengers including women and children faced lot of problems as a result. The train reached the city back at around midnight. No transport was available then for them either to go to Bangalore or to their homes in different places of the twin-districts.

In the meanwhile, the train from Bangalore was stopped at Sakleshpur. Some of the passengers were accommodated in buses.  If the heavy rain continues, more landslides and cancellation of trains might occur during the rainy reason.

Landslides are common during rainy season between Sakaleshpur & Subramanya. I really feel sory for the passengers stranded @ the city railway station that to without proper transportation. Why our Southern Railways are not able to run this Blr-Mlr-Blr train efficiently during the rainy season. We do not have any alternative train to Blr-Mlr-Blr if this train is cancelled during rainy season due to landslides.
