Dharwad: Gokarn Temple Dispute: Hearing adjourned

Daijiworld Media Network - Dharwad (SP)

Dharwad, Jul 17: The division bench of the Dharwad circuit bench of the state High Court, which is hearing the contempt of court petition filed against the officials of the government by a few former trustees of the temple, adjourned the hearing to July 24.

The High Court had ordered for status quo in the matter of Gokarn Lord Mahabaleshwar Temple that has been handed over by the government to Ramchandrapur Mutt. Certain officials are charged with failing to maintain the status quo as ordered.

Advocate general Ashok Harnahalli, who pleaded before the bench on behalf of the government, submitted that the government did not, at any point of time, thought of  committing contempt of court on the issue of transferring the temple as above.
