Abu Dhabi: 40 unused bus stops renovated as taxi stands

Abu Dhabi, Sep 24: The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) announced on Monday that 40 unused bus stops in the emirate have been converted into taxi stands. As per the regulators, the move aims at providing innovative solutions for parking management in the capital.

The ITC, in a statement said, "This step aims to optimise the use of parking spaces and regulate them to increase the level of satisfaction among taxi users by decreasing random parking and making it easier to hire taxis. Those bus stops were no longer in use as some of the buses were rerouted." As per authorities, last year that there are 4,000 bus stops across the emirate, with 2,000 in the capital city alone.
