Bengaluru: Police fire at accused who tried to attack, arrest him

Bengaluru, Sep 24: The police, who wanted to arrest a person in connection with the murder which happened here, fired at the accused who tried to attack them, and then arrested him.

Tabrez, named as accused in a murder which happened in a bar within the limits of Tilaknagar police station here, was absconding after the murder. The police had succeeded in finding out his hideout. They had launched an operation to launch him. When the police went to catch hold of Tabrez, he tried to attack constable, Anand, with a knife. The policemen then asked him to surrender besides firing in the air. But Tabrez continued with his aggression and was about to attack the policemen when inspector, Anil, fired at him in self-defence. Tabrez, who was injured in the leg, was arrested and admitted into a private hospital.

Tabrez, it is learnt, faces 11 cases of murder attempts, robbery, loot, chain snatching etc in Chamarajpet police station. In some cases, he had been jailed and was released recently. By resorting to his old habits, he has again got into trouble.

In the said case, Tabrez and Anand along with two transgenders, Madhu and Arpitha, were raising a din in a bar. A person named Kishore, who was at the bar at that time, questioned the gang. At this, Tabrez and his gang members attacked Kishore and murdered him. Relating to this incident, a case was registered in Tilaknagar police station.
