Beltangady: Landslide Creates Havoc in Malavantige Village

Although there was a brief respite from incessant rains on Friday July 19, the damage caused by the rains has continued causing major losses to plantations in Malavantige village, near here. 
 
A landslide occurred on a hillock located near the plantation owned by S M Tulapule in Malavantige village.  As a result, the soil has covered the plantation of areca, palms, banana, and other crops. 
 


The revenue department officials who visited the spot ascertained that the losses would be in excess of Rs 18 lac.  The family of Tulapule is worried that another likelihood of landslide would endanger their house. 
 
Revenue officials said that a landslide had occurred on the access road from Ukkuda to Bangarapalke and also the country road from Sampigekatte to Sasithota Basari in Malavantige village.

Incessant rains also flooded the rubber plantation owned by Zakaria, areca plantation of Kuriacchan and Monappa Gowda, all residents of Kokkada, near here.
