Udupi: Death of Mother - Daughter suspects Foul Play

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jul 18: On the basis of a private complaint lodged by Revati Nayak, daughter of Ratna alias Ratnavati, in Karkala court about the dubious circumstances under which her mother died while under the care of her sister Sumati Nayak in Bangalore, a case has been registered in Manipal police station.

The six daughters of Ratna, who used to reside near the Nandini Milk Processing Company in Manipal Netajinagar,  had agreed to take care of their old-aged mother, one month at a time. Likewise, after residing for some days recently in the house of Revati Nayak, Ratna had gone to the house of Sumati Nayak in Bangalore, where she died.

Sumati Nayak and her husband Dr J B Nayak brought the body of the lady to Manipal on July 10, but allegedly refused to divulge the circumstances under which she breathed her last. Revati says, she grew suspicious about the conduct of the couple and also in view of the fact that the deceased owned a house and 28 cents of land in Manipal.

Manipal policemen are investigating.
