Kasargod, Jul 18:
Police have arrested the caller behind the hoax bomb threat made to Swami Nityananda Polytechnic in Kanhangad in the district.

The arrested Shyam Kumar is the second year student of mechanic in the college and a resident of Cherkala. Police have registered two cases against him for giving a bomb threat to college and also creating fear among students and staff.

Investigations have revealed that Shyamkumar would absent himself from classes frequently and made a hoax call of bomb threat only to get a holiday. Police cracked the case by tracing the call. The investigations were led by deputy superintendent of police Habeeb Rehman.

It can be recalled here that the hoax bomb threat call received by the institute on July 14 had created a panic among students and staff. However, the fear was unfounded with bomb threat call turning to be hoax after the police who searched the institute premises pressing into service the dog squad and bomb detection squad confirmed the same.

However, the institute had announced holiday for the day.
