Mangalore, Jul 19:
Bishop J Prabhakar, CSI, Karnataka Northern Diocese has been appointed as moderator’s commissary on Saturday July 18. As per the orders by fifth additional civil judge (junior division) in Mangalore court, the moderator of the Church of South India, Karnataka Southern Diocese (CSI, KSD) Dr J W Gladstone has himself taken the charge of CSI, KSD.

A press release from CSI, KSD has stated that the executive committee of the KSD met on Saturday under the chairmanship of Rao to begin a new chapter in the administration of CSI churches in the diocese. Bishop devraj Bangera of CSI, KSD had retired on attaining superannuation completing 65 years on June 29, 2009. However, Bangera filed a suit in the civil court contending that he was born in 1945 and not in 1944 and therefore has a year of tenure as CSI Bishop.

However, fifth additional civil court (junior division) dismissed his petition on Friday July 17 and Gladstone took over charge as CSI Bishop. The court orders by the Manjunath, principal civil judge (junior division) also said that the interim temporary injunction order which was earlier issued stands vacated.
