Mangalore: Desecration of Lord Shiva Idol - Miscreant Arrested

Mangalore, July 19: Police arrested a person in connection with the desecration of idol of Lord Shiva installed at Pandeshwar Katte. The arrested was produced before the court on Saturday, July 18.

Police refused to disclose the name of the accused, who has admitted to the crime. The man appears to be mentally deranged, inform the police. Further, police have urged the public not to heed to any rumours.

It can be recalled here that the idol was found to have been damaged on Friday July 17 when a person residing in the neighbourhood noticed the damage and informed the police. A complaint also had also been registered in this regard at Pandeshwar police station by a member of the committee involved with the administration of the Katte.

    dear editor, Whether it is Christian,Hindu,Sikh,Buddist or Muslim,It is sad to know that insane people try to desecrate any diety,Indians are very sensitive when it comes to hurting anybodies feelings regarding religious places

    The police are doing their job. Whoever if not found mentally retarded, must be booked and punished. If he is mentally ill, then he maybe pardoned and let go as God doesnot wish to punish those who are out of senses.

    Recollect incident of Milagres Cruise damaged years before, said to have been by a mentally retarded person! The question was why he chose the Church cruize and not any other idol? Main reason is disrespect over other religion .
