Udupi, Jul 19: The court has released on bail the all accused, but two in the murder case of scrap dealer Abdul Basheer from the town, who was murdered in Someshwar on Dec 17, 2007.
The judge S L Patil of fast track court, who examined 24 witnesses out of 33 witnesses released all the accused including Zareena except murderers Praveen and Diwakar.
Main accused Zareena (38) and deceased Abdul Basheer (30), originally a Sacharipet native had illegitimate relationship. The duo was jointly carrying out scrap dealing business near Udupi fish market. Basheer also used to financially assist Zareena. However, soon Basheer’s family fixed his marriage. Following this Zareena who feared that she would have to return the Basheer’s money and also do away with an additional income plotted to kill Basheer.
Zareena soon approached Prakash Shetty (34) and Ravi Poojary (35) from Kakkunje here and gave a contract to kill Basheer for Rs 10 lac. Prakash Shetty in turn gave the contract of killing Basheer to Praveen Kulal (24) and Diwakar Achari (25) for Rs 8 lac.
Soon as per the plot Zareena and Basheer left for Bangalore in a car driven by Basheer. On Dec 16 midnight of 2007 while returning from Bangalore, the duo got down from the car to have tea at Someshwar. While getting back to the car after having tea, Praveen and Diwakar who came on a bike assaulted Basheer on his head with a sword and he died.
Thereafter, Zareena’s son who has accompanied her gave a complaint to the police that some unidentified miscreants killed Basheer. While investigating police found out that Zareena was the woman who plotted the murder.
