Mangalore: Flood Situation Improving - Resumption of Train Service to Bangalore Uncertain

Mangalore, Jul 20: While intermittent rains continue to drench the twin-districts and the neighbouring malnad regions on Sunday too, flood situation is improving. The revenue officials are busy visiting the rain-ravaged areas and assessing the damages. Sea erosion however, continues unabated. Kollur received 17 cms of rain while other places got an average of 6 cms.

Because of heavy rains, Kodagu district deputy commissioner has declared holiday for all the schools and colleges in the district on Monday, July 20 too, as floods in the district have not receded to the expected extent.

The railway authorities said, that works on repairing the damage caused by the landslides on the tracks between Yedakumeri and Siribagil  railway stations on Shiradi Ghat section, are continuing. A decision has not yet been taken about running of the train to Bangalore on Monday, they revealed.
