Mangalore: Monsoon Weakens Across West Coast - Whirlwind Predicted for Tuesday

Mangalore, Jul 22: With the weakening of the monsoon, only light rains were experienced at some places of the state's coast. With the sun shining brightly, temperature went up a few notches.

The meteorological department has in the meantime, warned the people and fishermen of the twin-districts and the Kerala coast, of the possibility of whirlwind forming above the Arabian sea and the coastal regions experiencing whirlwind and speeding gales on Tuesday July 22 and Wednesday. The fishermen particularly, have been asked to be cautious about the winds gaining speed up to 45 to 55 kms per hour. The rainfall however, will be normal, it said.

Karkala in Udupi district and Subrahmanya in Dakshina District got some rains. Reports from Kodagu district too said the rainfall there was scant, about two cms on an average.
