Beltangady, Jul 25: In an accident involving a bus and an auto rickshaw at Murje near here on the night of Thursday July 23, a woman lost her life on the spot, while a few others were injured. The accident took place at the bend near Pilatabettu Murje on Dharmastala-Mangalore road.

Kasturi (45), wife of the late Muttappa Moolya, a resident of Pademane in Kukkala village died in the accident. Her sister Lata was admitted to a Mangalore hospital with serious injuries while Sesappa Moolya, Babita, their children Maneesha and Ritula sustained minor injuries. Kasturi, who was waiting for a bus to go to her parents' home in Bantwal, was picked up by a few people known to her, who were going by an auto rickshaw.  As the KSRTC bus hit the auto rickshaw, Kasturi was thrown to the road and lost her life.

Beltangady policemen rushed to the spot and registered a case against bus driver Janardan.
