Mangalore: Magisterial Inquiry into Shaji Encounter Case Ordered

Mangalore, Jul 25: Deputy commissioner in-charge A Prabhakar Sharma has ordered magisterial inquiry into the encounter of Shaji alias David alias Asif on January 19, 2006 under Mangalore South police station limits.

Assistant commissioner (AC) Prabhulinga Kavalikatti has been ordered to conduct probe into the incident and infer whether the police action was justified and necessary as far as encounter was concerned as well as inquiry into the police strength thereon. AC has further been asked to conduct an inquiry and submit a report within three months.
