Sullia: Wrong Notion of Moral Police - Couple Questioned

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Aug 5: A self-styled moral policeman, who grew suspicious about the movements of a couple that boarded a bus to Mangalore, passed on the information to the policemen that a man and woman  from different religions were travelling together in the bus, on Tuesday August 4. The policemen promptly came on the scene and questioned the couple, at the local bus stand.

A man, who wrongly thought that the couple sitting together in the bus belonged to different religions, had conveyed the information to the policemen. During questioning, the passengers revealed that they were going to Mangalore to admit their daughter in a college there. The husband works as an omelette vendor in Gandhinagar here, while his wife works in Kuwait. She had come home on leave recently.

The fact that the wife did not wear burkha at the time, seems to have alerted the criminal instincts of the complainant. The overactive self-styled moral policemen, who want to view everything with a religious colour have of late, not only been giving sleepless nights to the real policemen but also the citizens at large.

It is better to name them as ''goondas'' instead of ''self styled moral police''. The couple was travelling in a bus & were not found in any secluded place. Shame on the police department who acts on the idiotic information of these goondas instead of telling them to mind their own business.

The policemen had no business to act at the behest of this ''moral policeman''. By coming on the scene when they were alerted by this man, they have only encouraged the goonda elements. The police department should suspend the policeman (or his bosses who sent him) who came there to question the couple. In India there is no bar in two people of different faiths travelling together! Shame on the police! Let them concentrate on real thugs and thieves.

It demonstrates the dept to which the moral policing is gone down in society targetting largely innocent. Police having encouraged such alternate force with liberty, I dont mind they have sleepless nights.
