Mangalore: SJEC organizes Workshop on Science for High School Teachers

Mangalore, Aug 5: The departments of physics, chemistry and mathematics of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, here, organized a two-day workshop on science, for the science teachers of the high schools, recently.  The objective of the workshop was to provide a platform for the high school science teachers to improve and upgrade their knowledge and skills in advanced subjects of science, to motivate the teachers to develop innovative tools for teaching science effectively and to develop skills in new teaching methodologies. 

The programme was inaugurated by Mangalore diocese Catholic Board of Education secretary Fr Wilson D’Souza. 


 

Taluk deputy director of public instructions subject inspector Subramanya Sharma was the guest of honour. SJEC director Fr Valerian D’Souza presided over the function. SJEC principal Dr Joseph Gonsalves and assistant director Fr Henry Mascarenhas were also present.

Pilikula Science Centre director Dr K V Rao, Suratkal NITK chemistry professor Dr A Nityanand Shetty, SJEC physics department head Prof Dr Vincent Crasta, St Aloysius College graduate assistant Gopalakrishna S and SJEC dean of MCA Prof Rio D’Souza were the resource persons.

Forty four science teachers from 31 high schools in and around the city attended the workshop.
