Moodbidri: MVSIT Campus Celebrates ‘Vanamahotsava’

  Dr M V Shetty Institute of Technology (MVSIT) celebrated ‘Vanamahostava’ on Wednesday August 5, at its campus at Todar in Moodbidri.  

The chief whip of the opposition in the state assembly, K Abhayachandra Jain, inaugurated the programme.


 

He said, “Even if we receive rain in large amounts, it is only for four months. There will be an acute shortage of water in the months March-May. So, we have to recharge the ground water by planting saplings.”

“The college will continue the plantation drive at different places in and around the campus”, said Dr M Ramgopal Shetty, secretary, Dr M V Shetty Trust.

Trustee Divanjali Shetty, administrative officer Dr Chandra Shekar Shetty, panchayat Member Divakar Shetty, principal Dr Sandeep J Nayak, professors, and faculty members of MVSIT were present.

    I dont understand this statement of Mr.Jain,how can we recharge the ground water by planting saplings, We might be able to recharge the rain water by drilling some bore well''s bulding dykes and filtering the water by using gravel and letting it into the ground where it will be saved and the water table will rise. Planting the saplings will help to improve the climate.
