Udupi: Childline to address various issues related to child labour from Nov 14

Udupi, Nov 13: A press meet was organised by Childline here, at District Commissioner office in the city on November 13 with regard to Children’s Day and 'Childline Se Dosti Week' programmes which are to commence from November 14.

Rtn Ramachandra Upadhyaya, director, Childline addressed the media stating that Childline Udupi in association with district administrationn, zilla panchayat, District Legal Services Authority, Udupi district and Rotary Udupi is celebrating Children's Day and 'Childline Se Dosti Week' programme from November 14 to November 20. The inaugural programme which will be held at Nalanda Sabha Bhavan, Govt Composite High School, Volakad, Udupi will be inaugurated by Dinakar Babu, president zilla panchayat, Udupi in the presence of G Jagadeesha, District Commissioer of Udupi, Preeti Gehlot, CEO, zilla panchayat Udupi, Nisha James, Superintendent of Udupi, Kaveri, Sr Civil Judge and member secretary, District Legal Services Authority and Sadashiva Prabhu, Additional Deputy Commissioner Udupi.



Sadashiva Prabhu said that various programmes will be organised in the week and programmes related to child labour and child begging will be held, posters will be displayed at public places so that the public is made aware of these issues. Awareness programmes against child marriage, child abuse, child drug addiction, child school dropout and child begging will be conducted in public premises with the help of students from different colleges said Sadashiva Prabhu. He also said that in the coming days it will be seen that a boys rehabilation center will be established in Udupi. It was also highlighted that childline number 1098 was made extensive use of by the children, which shows that such awareness programmes are moving in the right direction he said.
