Udupi, Nov 14: Udupi district Congress conducted a protest against the central government's anti-public economic policies near Martyrs memorial, Ajjarakadu on November 14.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, ex-MLA of Kaup constituency addressed the gathering and stated that central government led by Narendra Modi is trying to control the powers of the democratic system. Sorake claimed that the drastic fall in the GDP rates which had never taken place in the country's history has taken place under Modi's rule. He also claimed that the central government is making use of RBI's emergency funds. "The country's economic growth has declined to a large margin. Under Narendra Modi's rule, rich people and businessmen are becoming richer whereas the poor are getting poorer," Sorake said.

"BJP government is trying to completely demolish the opposition party by conducting IT raids, CBI raids during the elections and is trying to gain the votes through sympathy," he added.

Sorake also added up saying that the neighbouring countries are ranking higher than India whereas India has dropped in its ranking from 93 to 102 under BJP rule.

Ex-MLA of Udupi constituency Pramod Madhwaraj joined the protest at Martyrs memorial and said that today in India apart from Modi everyone else is suffering due to his bad economic policies. "The bar owners, rickshaw and taxi drivers are undergoing huge loss. The cashew industry is shutting down and the educated students are not getting decent jobs. People voted for BJP thinking that Modi government would bring changes in the society which could better their life but Modi's government has destroyed the lives of people," Madhwaraj said.

"BJP has used the Pulwama reason to collect sympathetic votes. MLA’s and MP’s appointed failed to bring any facilities or schemes which are in the interest of the public. They are just providing the schemes which were sanctioned during the golden tenure of Siddaramaiah," he added.

Further, he stated that BJP followers are just chanting the names of Modi and Hindutva to gain votes and seats in elections and hardly undertake any developmental works.

Madhwaraj believes that citizens have realised that 'NAMO' no longer remains as Narendra Modi but has turned out to be 'Namage Mosa'.

Slogans against Modi and BJP government was heard throughout the protest, 'Shame, Shame BJP', slogans were raised by the congress leaders and activists. Ex-MLA of Kapu Vinay Kumar Sorake, Ex-MLA Sabapathy, Udupi district Congress president, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor and vice-president, Prakyath Shetty, Congress leader, PV Mohan and Harish Kini participated in the protest.

Pramod sir plz stay away from such protests. Try to do your best to the common people of your constituency. You'll be elected again since you are a sincere person and not like a show piece like Shoba K.
