Kundapur, Nov 18: Heddari Jagruti Samiti (Highway Awareness Committee) decided to hold vociferous protest against the irregularities in the four-lane road work from Vinayak to Sangam under the town municipality limits. This decision was taken in the public meeting that was held at the Rotary Kala Mandir of the town on Saturday, November 16.

As the first phase of the protest a public protest will be held on December 3 along with the citizens of the town.

Speaking on the occasion Kenchanur Somashekhar Shetty said, "We have been protesting continuously against the four-lane highway road. Till date no one is giving us the correct picture of the project. People representatives also do not have any concrete information in this respect. The tragedy is that the people representatives could not call the officials of NHAI even once to the spot. No one is able to provide information on service Road, Embarkment and flyover. Due to the unscientific design of the flyover, traffic woes will further increase. We are fed up of giving repeated appeals to concerned officials. Protest is the only way to get this done."

Kishore Kumar Kundapur, eminent leader of Heddari Horata Jagruti Samiti, Vikas Hegde, Congress leader and former president of Kundapur city development authority, Venkatesh Koni, CPIM leader, Shiriyara Gopalkrishna Shetty, lawyer and Shashdhar Hemmady, president of Taluk Working Journalists' association also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the apathy of the administration.
