Mysore, Sep 4: Shubham Electronics is a popular stall of electronics goods and home appliances, located on the Devaras Urs Road, located in the heart of the city. Currently, 'Shubham Mahotsav - 2009', a festival offering mega discounts to customers, is under way. A major fire broke out in the shop in the morning of Friday September 4.

As soon as the fire was noticed, the employees at work in the stall succeeded in rescuing the customers and leading them to safety before the fire spread. Fire tenders were summoned and the policemen took charge of the traffic, diverting the same through other roads. The firemen took steps initially, to control the fire from spreading to neighbouring buildings. They could extinguish the fire after an operation extending to over two hours.

Stock valued at several lacs of rupees is feared to have been gutted in the fire. As fire has just been doused and a careful inspection is going on, and a clear picture can emerge only after the shop owners make a thorough stock check. Reasons for the fire are as yet unknown.
