Mangalore: Four Inter-district Thieves Arrested

Mangalore, Sep 21: Four inter-district thieves, who were involved with stealing the valuables of the tourists who came to the beach at Panambur here, were arrested by the policemen of Panambur police station on Saturday September 19.

Sami alias Samiulla (28), Syed Irfan alias Janu (24), Nayaz alias Issac (23) and Syed Riaz alias Jigunu (24) from Mysore district were apprehended by the policemen, based on a complaint filed by a few tourists.

The thieves, who came in an Ambassador car to the beach on September 15 evening, had removed a tinted wind shield of the car in which some tourists had come to the beach, and had removed a bag lying inside by using a wire. They had taken away Rs 10,000 in cash, some bank records etc., from the bag. On the basis of the details of the thieves given by the tourists, Panambur station house officer Pramod Kumar, Nagesh, Kantappa, Shivaprakash and Damodar, who posed like civilians, succeeded in arresting the thieves.

It is learnt, the foursome had robbed money and belongings from several tourists from Mysore, Srirangapatna, Krishanarajasagar Dam, Edamuri, Balamuri and some tourist spots in Tamil Nadu. Syed Irfan and Syed Riaz are twins.

Investigations are on. The policemen have warned the tourists to take care of their belongings.
