Brahmavar, Jan 7: Following verbal altercation with the personnel manning Sastan tollgate on Monday January 6, the driver of a private bus attacked the tollgate staff.

It is learnt that a private bus that was moving towards Kundapur from Udupi entered FASTag gate although the vehicle did not have FASTag. The driver insisted that the toll staff should collect toll fee in the form of cash from him. The person there advised the driver to reverse the vehicle and enter the cash gate as the FASTag lane is not equipped to collect cash. Allegedly, angered by this advice, the bus driver got down and beat the staff up.

Condemning the attack, the toll staff closed down the ninth gate in which the bus was moving, and expressed anger. The bus had to wait there for an hour. The locals too condemned the behaviour of the bus driver. The bus passengers were stranded inside the bus.

The staff who was the victim of the attack is said to be from Uttar Pradesh. He was seen shedding tears. As he dithered from filing official complaint, the matter was settled through conciliation.
