Kundapur: Nepal’s study team visits Vandse SLRM waste disposal unit

Kundapur, Jan 13: A study team from Nepal ministry on January 13 visited SLRM waste disposal unit of Vandse gram panchayat. The team gathered details to begin a similar unit in Birendra Nagar Municipal Council limits in Nepal as a pilot project. The team observed the collection of trash from houses, shops and establishments in Vandse gram panchayat limits, their cleanliness and scientific segregation, converting wet waste as manure, profitability etc. The Vandse SLRM unit collects waste from Chittoor, Idoor and Kunjladi gram panchayat limits as well.

Joint secretary of Nepal government’s federal affairs Kedar Prasad Paneru, internal affairs secretary Rishi Raj Acharya, Mahendra Kumar Sapkota, industries and commerce division internal secretary Jnanendra Parajuli, forest and environment ministry mechanical engineer Tulsi Narayan Maharajan, town development ministry civil engineer Prabin Shresta, Birendranagar municipality mayor Dev Kumar Subedy, Birendranagar municipality officer Yamla Giri, Solundakhunda municipality deputy mayor Kalpana Rai, chief official Aisha Kahtoon, project manager Sakina Khatoon and others were in the study team.



Vandse gram panchayat president Udayakumar Shetty, Green India Services project director Velloor Srinivasan presented details about SLRM. Udupi district panchayat assistant project officer James D’Silva, Kundapur taluk panchayat executive officer Keshava Shettigar, manager Sooraj, gram panchayat vice-president Sharada Rudrayya Acharya, members Udaya K Naik, Singari, gram panchayat development officer Roopa Gopi, secretary Shanker Acharya, SLRM supervisor Vijayalaxmi, PDOs Dayananda, Mahesh Kadoor, locals Mohammed Rafik, Diwaker and gram panchayat staff were present.
