Shivamogga, Jan 21: MP B Y Raghavendra, said that for the convenience of tourists, it is proposed to establish cable car service between Kollur and Kodachadri. He clarified that this will be with public - private partnership.

He was speaking at a meeting of officials of different departments and experts on the projects that can be undertaken to lay emphasis on tourism development, challenges, and possibilities.

"Kollur and Kodachadri are located 32 kms apart. The distance will drastically come down if cable car with a length of 11 km is laid. It will also save time," he noted.

Raghavendra said that if a survey is conducted about the ways in which this project can be developed by retaining the current natural beauty of the area and without harming the environment in any way, and a proposal is submitted, it will be considered. Once the proposal comes, no objection certificates can be obtained from environment and forest departments and permission from central government can be obtained," he explained.

Managing director of Menus Adventures Private Ltd Bengaluru, Nazir Ahmed Bhat, said that the proposed project may require Rs 1,200 crore investment. He said that efforts will be made to complete the project within a specific time frame if necessary support and permissions are obtained from central land state governments.
