Mumbai, Jan 21: Mumbai Crime Branch busted a call centre racket in Andheri which was illegally selling sexual performance drugs to Americans.

The police are trying to find out if the drugs were indeed being delivered to the call centre's targeted clientele in the US or if the entire operation was fraudulent.

After the department received a tip-off, a team led by Sunil Mane arrested the accused identified as Muddassar Haroon Makandar (34), the owner of the call centre AMM Call Connect in Marol Andheri (East), along with his right-hand man Ashle Glen D'Souza (38) and two dozen employees.

"When we barged in, the centre's employees were busy answering calls to US nationals in American accents. They had nicknames like James, John and Harry. They were selling sex enhancement products," said Mane.

The police officers confiscated several computers, mobile phones and data cards which contained lists of many American clients. These lists were used to contact the clientele for the sale of the alleged drug.

The accused have been booked under the IPC for cheating and forgery and under the relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.

The crime branch is currently investigating how Makandar and his aides learnt the ropes and if they were involved in other similar rackets.
