Raichur: Minor girl's rapist held after her father committed suicide

Raichur, Feb 4: The police on February 3, arrested a youth who has been accused of raping a minor girl in a village falling within the limits of Sindhanur rural police station in the district.

The arrested youth happens to be Sannapamappa (27) from Sidrampura. The father was walking by the road to accompany his daughter home from school when the youngster riding a bike who was passing by offered help. He reportedly gave some liquor to the father to drink and took away the girl with the promise of safely taking her to her village. However he had raped the girl on the way.

On the basis of complaint filed by aggrieved mother of the girl, a case was registered in Sindhanur rural police station. The father of the girl feeling guilty at the catastrophe that had ruined his daughter's life had consumed poison and ended his life on February 2.

A special team had been formed by district superintendent of police Dr Vedamurthy to investigate the case and arrest the culprit. The team arrested the accused on Monday February 3 and produced in the court. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
