Udupi, Feb 5: Kuylady Suresh Nayak, newly elected Udupi district BJP president took over the reins from immediate past district party president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, who completed three and half years tenure on Wednesday, February 5 at BJP office, Kadiyali.

The charge was handed over by giving BJP flag. On the occasion, newly appointed town BJP presidents received the honour from the new district BJP president. These included M Deepak Kumar Shetty (Byndoor), Shankar Ankada Katte (Kundapur), Veena V Naik (Karkala Rural), Mahesh Takur (Udupi), Shrikanth Nayak (Kaup) and Mahaveer Hegde (Karkala).

After receiving the honour from the party Suresh Nayak said, "Panchayat level election is coming ahead. There are challenges in future. There is a need to strengthen the party even more. I intend to work as the voice of party workers and I will put the hard work in solving the problems."

“BJP is lagging in occupying a place in the cooperative sector, as a result of this, we got defeated when we had a chance to win. I shall work with dedication and commitment and fulfil the expectations of party workers. I will put sincere efforts in 3 years," he added.

Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde said, "It is a little emotional moment for me. In the 1980s, there were hard days in BJP because it was a tough job of bringing people to joining the party. I thank everyone who extended support from bottom to the district level. Good days are coming for women too because the Central government is planning to bring reservation for women. BJP is more efficient, disciplined party."

"Age limitations in BJP's administration is to inculcate the youth. The party is trying to have 90 per cent of youths in BJP. The party has occupied the MLA seat in all five constituencies in the district in the previous election. It was possible, because of the sincere effort of the party," he added.

Sukumar Kumar Byndoor MLA, Uday Kumar Shetty Mangaluru divisional in charge, Dinakar Babu president Zilla panchayat, Sheela K Shetty, vice-president ZP, Kuthyar Naveen Shetty and others were present.
