Mangaluru, Feb 6: After receiving complaint that an old lady living near Thokkottu within Ullal police station limits was under house arrest, coordinator of Senior Citizens Helpline and members of Human Rights Action committee visited the house concerned on Wednesday February 5, checked the facts, and alerted the family members to take better care of the lady.

The family, of which the lady is a member, lives in a flat at Thokkottu. The woman's son had left on urgent work on Tuesday. His wife had left home on Wednesday after providing food to her mentally unstable mother-in-law, who is 71.

Someone who observed that the old lady was locked up inside her house alone contacted the coordinating officer of Senior Citizens Helpline and Human Rights Action Committee. The officials visited the house and saw the woman living in locked house. After her son returned in the evening, they made inquiries, asked him to provide treatment to his mother, and warned not to leave her alone in this fashion.
