Bengaluru: Lottery scam - CBI gives clean chit to ADGP Alok Kumar

Bengaluru, Feb 7: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which conducted investigation into the reported single number lottery ticket scandal involving IPS officer Alok Kumar has filed charge sheet against police officers who registered false cases against Kumar.

On the charge of hoisting false cases against Parirajan, who was blamed for running a single number lottery scandal, the CBI has filed charge sheet against ten persons including retired inspector general of police B M Kanakalaxmi, G T Swamy, R Ranganath, M J Lokesh, B N Sheekanta, Raviprakash, sub-inspector B M Tippeswamy and others.

First information report about running single number lottery scheme had been registered against Parirajan. During the period criminal investigation department was conducting inquiry, it was entrusted to inspector of lottery control department Kanakalaxmi. The probe was completed and charge sheet was filed against the concern. When submitting charge sheet, the police had said that more investigation would be required.

Central Bureau of Investigation has now said that the then inspector general of police Padmanayaj, along with junior staff, had visited the house of Parirajan at KGF on May 1, 2015, with the purpose of destroying the reputation of officers, the then inspector general of police Padmanayana, along with staff, had raided Parirajan's house at KGF. They had recovered cash and other papers. When items like lottery ticket, result sheet, and other things were sent to forensic laboratory, it was found that these were not in the hard disk of the CPU in Parirajan's computer. CBI says that ticket and result sheet was collected before searching Parirajan's house. The officials said that officials of the team have kept lottery tickets in order to fix the accused in the case.
