Mangaluru: Golden jubilee celebration of KACES to conclude on Feb 10

Mangaluru, Feb 8: The Karnataka Christian Educational Society (KACES) founded in December 1969 serves as an umbrella organization for the various educational and vocational training institutions for which Karnataka Theological College is the nucleus. At this time of celebration, contributions of the Basel Mission who arrived in India in 1834 and the same year founded the Basel Evangelical Mission Seminary later named Karnataka Theological College since 1965 come to mind.

Hebich Technical Training Institute rendered its service in the field of technical education. The society established various institutions to nurture the community through its educational institutions namely, commerce and computer education, printing, stitchcraft, fashion designing etc. KACES during the last 50 years served the church and society through its various institutions.

 KACES, for the last fifty years, has not only followed the legacy of the Basel Mission but has also strived to build life-affirming communities in the local context and through its various inclusive educational and empowerment programmes.

The contributions of all the secretaries, presidents, executive members and staff who through their constant support and hard work contributed immensely to fulfill the vision and mission of KACES is acknowledged. At this juncture the contributions of previous secretaries Fr C D Jathanna, Fr Dr C L Furtado and Fr Dr J S Sadananda who built the society through their dynamic leadership is remembered.

As the golden jubilee celebrations draw to a close on February 10 a thanksgiving prayer will be held at 5.00 pm at Bishop Jathanna auditorium, Balmatta, Mangaluru where Fr Prasanna Kumar Samuel will deliver God’s message and other Bishops and previous secretaries of the society will take part.

The service will be followed by a public reception. Vedavyas Kamath, MLA, Mangaluru south will be the chief guest and Bishop Ravikumar Niranjan, CSI-KND, Bishop Mohan Manoraj, CSI-KSD, Bishop Dr C L Furtado, Bishop Dr J S Sadananda will be the guests of honour. Fr Dr H R Cabral, secretary KACES will preside over the programme.

During the Public Reception programme, a publication on 'Christian Education' will be released.

Various institutions of the Society will present cultural programmes toward the end.
